With its ability to churn out large quantities of essay-like text in a matter of seconds, teachers and other members within the higher education system have expressed concern, suggesting that this technology may<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/rashishrivastava\/2022\/12\/12\/teachers-fear-chatgpt-will-make-cheating-easier-than-ever\/?sh=2e1254d61eef\">\u00a0<u>\u201cmuddy the waters when evaluating a student\u2019s actual writing capabilities&#8221;.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0These concerns have been taken seriously by the higher education world, with the NYC department of education blocking ChatGPT, a generative text engine, on school devices and networks only last week. The reason given for this decision was a<a href=\"https:\/\/ny.chalkbeat.org\/2023\/1\/3\/23537987\/nyc-schools-ban-chatgpt-writing-artificial-intelligence#:~:text=The%20chatbot&#039;s%20ability%20to%20churn,could%20encourage%20cheating%20and%20plagiarism.\">\u00a0<u>\u201cnegative impact on student learning, and concerns regarding the safety and accuracy of content\u201d.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0Whilst some of these concerns are valid within the realms of education others are less so. Some have suggested that being concerned over generative AI\u2019s production of accurate content, is similar to being concerned that your calculator isn\u2019t able to write a sci-fi novel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_paragraph__BUdL_\">AutogenAI\u2019s approach to generative AI is that it should be augmented \u2013 this is incredible technology, built to work\u00a0<i>with\u00a0<\/i>users, rather than instead of them. Within the education system, Washington University have exemplified this philosophy (see photo below). The progressive ideas presented by WashU should be followed by other educational institutions. Generative AI is the future, and guiding young adults on the strengths and weaknesses of this technology \u2013 including its most prominent applications and information on its downfalls \u2013\u00a0 will only add to its development and application worldwide, rather than simply delaying the inevitable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"styles_paragraph__BUdL_\">This is articulated wonderfully by Nancy W.
