Queensland Premier David Crisafulli unveiled the state government\u2019s \u201c2032 Delivery Plan\u201d for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues and infrastructure, Tuesday 25 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Worth more than $7 billion, the\u00a02023 Brisbane Olympic Games\u2019\u00a0venues and infrastructure plan comprises\u00a0a new Stadium,\u00a0sports\u00a0centres\u00a0and\u00a0Athletes\u00a0Villages, as well as upgrades to existing venues in Brisbane and statewide, new rail lines, stations\u00a0and\u00a0bus corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the centre of the Games\u00a0Plan\u00a0will be a new Brisbane Stadium,\u00a0a\u00a063,000-seat venue\u00a0to be built at Victoria Park. This was chosen after considerable analysis of cost, time and\u00a0future benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\u00a0new\u00a0National Aquatic Centre\u00a0will be\u00a0built on the site of the current\u00a0Centenary Pool,\u00a0which will consist of\u00a025,000 seat capacity\u00a0venue\u00a0and multiple pools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other highlights include a major upgrade of the RNA Showgrounds to include an Athletes village and 20,000 seat outdoor arena to host key events. The Queensland Tennis Centre will be upgraded with a new 3,000 seat arena and 12 match courts, which will bring more tournaments to Brisbane as part of the legacy of the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2032 Games will spread\u00a0the benefits\u00a0to the regions, with\u00a0new structures, revitalised existing infrastructure and\u00a0investment\u00a0in\u00a0roads and transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Plan includes new and\u00a0accessible facilities at Logan and Moreton Bay,\u00a0a\u00a0new whitewater rafting centre\u00a0at\u00a0Redlands,\u00a0as well as\u00a0a transformation of the Toowoomba showgrounds\u00a0into Equestrian Centre of Excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brisbane Gold Coast rail line will be upgraded with faster trains and more stations, along with upgrades to the M1 and Coomera Connector. On the Gold Coast, there will be a new arena and Hockey Centre upgrade to host several events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sunshine Coast will benefit from a new direct rail line and metro hub connecting to the airport, and Maroochydore CBD will welcome an Athletes Village, arena and cultural precinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further\u00a0\u201cgenerational infrastructure\u201d\u00a0includes upgrades of\u00a0the\u00a0Bruce Highway, a\u00a0Cairns Stadium\u00a0upgrade to host\u00a0Football and Basketball, upgrades\u00a0to\u00a0Harrop Park\u00a0Mackay to host\u00a0Cricket,\u00a0Townsville\u00a0stadium to host\u00a0Football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rockhampton\u00a0will welcome an\u00a0Athletes Village\u00a0and will host the rowing,\u00a0Whitsundays\u00a0will be the second venue for Sailing and Maryborough will host Archery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is envisaged that post-Games, Athletes Villages will become accessible and affordable housing, addressing the predicted population boom in the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
